What is the Forever One Memorial?

Forever one, those who came together to celebrate life, joy, and music, quickly forged new bonds in the face of unimaginable tragedy and loss.

In a moment, concertgoers and hospitality workers became first responders, tending to those with wounds from

the gunfire above, transporting them to nearby hospitals. Police from across the valley, and from all jurisdictions, assembled in haste lined up row after row awaiting to be dispatched. Trauma units cared for a rapid influx of patients where an otherwise ordinary evening instantly looked more like a war zone.

With 58 lives taken, and survivors who carry wounds both visible and internal, the community longs for a place to make meaning of their grief and to find hope. The Forever One Memorial is a reflection of their collective aspirations for that healing place.

Show more less

""</picture>

Nothing can replace the lives that were lost. And yet, we must never forget their stories and their

memory. Fathers, mothers, sons, daughters, colleagues, friends … angels.

In the face of tragedy, Las Vegas showed the world who we are where tourists and locals alike were seeking productive ways to offer their resources, their support, their care. Since, we have become safer, more compassionate, and more just.

Our police department strengthened its practices and now serves as a global leader in preparedness and response to violence. We have a nationally-known Resiliency & Justice Center that is a permanent place for all victims of violent crime to recover. We now seek to create a space where all those impacted by the events of 1 October can connect, grieve, and heal.

Show more less

""</picture>

Remembering the 58
and All Lives We Have Since Lost

Today and every day, we solemnly remember the loss of these 58 lives during the events of 1 October 2017. It’s part of our mission to ensure their memory and their story lives on, uniting our community in hope and healing as we forge ahead.
Learn More

Beyond the 58 who lost their lives on the evening of 1 October, in the months and years since, two lost their lives as a result of injuries suffered that night and others have since passed from physical and psychological wounds. We honor all those impacted by the tragedy who will forever carry scars and loss. The Forever One Memorial intends to honor the 58 in the Remembrance Ring with a special tribute planned for the additional lives that have since left us.

No one can change the past— but we can move forward, as one.

The Forever One Memorial will be many things—a place to grieve, a symbol of strength, and a reminder that love and light will always triumph over darkness.

The memorial’s primary goal is to pay tribute to those affected by the events of 1 October 2017, while simultaneously celebrating the spirit of unity that rose from this tragedy.

Show more less

Its design has been a collective effort across the community. The most important and first step in its development was listening to the needs of victims’ families, survivors, emergency responders, and others who were impacted by the event. During these profound and heartfelt conversations, we recognized a growing desire for a space of healing and remembrance, and each of the design elements reflects an important part of the story they want told.

The “58 Candles” will be the heart of the Forever One Memorial, representing the lives lost through 58 brilliant pillars of light stretching into the Vegas sky. From above, the memorial site will appear as an infinity symbol—an eternally sacred and solemn refuge tucked into the urban fabric of the city. The 58 Candles will also be accompanied by a 58-foot Tower of Light that radiates a colorful glow and will be visible from anywhere along the Strip.

Show more less
